"This is a tremendous accomplishment for the Embassy Suites property, the design and development team, and the hotel's staff, and they should be congratulated on their efforts," said Jason Tienor, CEO of Telkonet.
Telkonet worked closely with WPM Construction, the general contractor, to provide the HVAC energy management solution. Telkonet's proprietary SmartEnergy system minimizes energy consumption by reducing time spent cooling or heating unoccupied guest rooms, delivering significant savings and reducing the building's carbon footprint. Ideal installations for SmartEnergy have intermittent occupancy, such as hotel guest rooms or conference space, college dormitories, military barracks, and healthcare facilities. Properties realize a savings of 20% to 40% less than what HVAC energy costs would be without energy management technology.
"We are pleased to have Telkonet's EcoSmart thermostats and energy management solution installed in the Embassy Suites hotel, providing a contributing technology to our ongoing energy conservation efforts," said Robert Kisabeth, General Manager of the Embassy Suites property, a hotel managed by Windsor Capital Group.
"Telkonet, along with other vendor partners, enabled the Embassy Suites to become LEED Silver certified," Kisabeth said. While reducing energy use and runtime in our HVAC operations, we realize substantially lower energy costs for the property. Telkonet's highly accurate sensors detect when rooms are occupied or unoccupied and the Recovery Time™ technology ensures guests are comfortable within minutes of arriving in their guestrooms."
"We anticipate that with rising energy costs, the hospitality industry will continue to seek strategies and technologies, such as our EcoSmart platform, that reduce energy consumption and costs while not adversely affecting the guest experience," said Tienor.
In addition to HVAC energy management, the Embassy Suites Downtown Denver initiated other key energy savings measures such as placing solar reflective material on the roof, using an energy-efficient glazing on all windows, maintaining efficient recycling practices, and selecting plumbing, mechanical equipment and lighting systems that would conserve water and use less energy.
